A noteworthy trend has emerged at New York Fashion Week: the Great American West, specifically the region’s tried-and-true cowboy hat.  In recent seasons, powerhouse influencer Chanel has shown Western-inspired lineups. While Madonna and Pharrell Williams got an early jump on the hat trend at the Grammys.

New York  Fashion Week has proved that Chanel is not the only designer having a love affair with the Wild, Wild West.  Fringe, copyboy boots, ponchos and other trends borrowed from the costumes of Texas have been seen in an array of collections as the week (well, month) progresses. However, the cowgirl hat in a shade of black seems to be the most dominant of the trends.

Up and coming design duo, Cushnie et Ochs featured this trend like no other on their recent runway show.

If you do not have a black cowboy hat in your closet, I recommend you to get one before the summer ends. The cowboy hat will be the go to accessory for city girls this Fall.
