Rascal Flatts Urges Fans That Farewell Tour Is Not Goodbye

Rascal Flatts left many fans heartbroken after announcing their plans to conclude their 20 year career with one final farewell tour this summer. The country trio, consisting of Gary LeVox, Joe Don Rooney and Jay DeMarcus, recently spoke further about the news.

"Something that I think merits mentioning is that a lot of people have asked us since we’ve made this announcement is if something had happened," DeMarcus said in an interview at Country Radio Seminar in Nashville, Tennessee. "Did we have a falling out? Have we fought with each other? Have we gotten to the point where we can’t get along? That’s really not the case."

"We’ve just gotten to this point in the road where it’s just forking and we’re entering into new seasons of our lives," he continued. "And we haven’t signed a pact to say we’re never going to work together ever again. This isn’t a ploy to get your money to come out and see this tour so that we can turn around next year. There are no immediate plans to do any more Rascal Flatts show past October 30th."

While Rascal Flatts has no plan to perform after their "Farewell Life Is A Highway Tour," they insist this isn't goodbye. The group looks at the tour as more of a celebration of the years they've had with their fans. "Twenty years is a long time in any business, and we’ve never had the opportunity to take a deep breath, and go, 'You know what, we’ve really done some remarkable things in a 20-year career," DeMarcus adds.

Rascal Flatts released their first single, "Prayin' For Daylight" in 2000. This song kicked off the group's success leading them on the unforgettable journey in the 20 years following.

"We’ve been hitting the road for a lot of years," Rooney said. "It’s been so special. We can’t wait to get out there and love all over the fans and celebrate what you all have given us. It's just incredible that 20 years goes by that quick. We know we’ve been blessed, we’re very thankful, and just humbled by this incredible success that we’ve been given."

The "Farewell Life Is A Highway Tour" will start in Indianapolis, Indiana on June 11, with shows running through October 30. A full list of cities and dates scheduled can be seen here.

Rascal Flatts will be joined by Chris Lane, Chase Rice, Avenue Beat, Caylee Hammack, King Calaway, Matt Stell and Rachel Wammack for select shows throughout the trek. Tickets to most shows will go on sale Friday, February 21.
