GOP Politicians Ask Court To Overturn Abbott's Order Extending Early Voting

A number of Texas GOP politicians and activists are asking the state Supreme Court to overturn Gov. Greg Abbott's order to extend early voting by six-days. The longer voting period was a pandemic-related measure meant to ease crowding at polling places. But in Wednesday's court petition, Republican leaders said the governor's order violates the Texas Constitution and state law. Joining the petition are two state senators, seven current and former members of the Texas House, Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller, and Allen West, chairman of the Republican Party of Texas.
