Texas Supreme Court Again Hears Arguments About Expanded Mail-In Voting

The Texas Supreme Court is again hearing arguments about Harris County's plan to send mail-in voting applications to every registered voter in the county. The state allows mail-in voting mainly for the elderly and disabled. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton opposes efforts to expand voting by mail. A lawyer for Paxton told the court on Wednesday that Harris County Clerk Chris Hollins doesn't have the authority to mail out the unsolicited applications. A lawyer for Hollins claimed the pandemic makes mail-in voting a safety matter. The high court has already nixed efforts to expand mail-in voting during the pandemic.
