Texas Supreme Court Reverses Injunction On Trans Parent Investigations

The Texas Supreme Court is striking down the block on investigations into the parents of transgender children. On Friday, the court reversed an injunction barring the state from launching child abuse investigations into parents who allowed their children to receive gender-affirming care. The Department of Family and Protective Services started the investigations earlier this year following a directive from Governor Abbott, but a district judge granted a temporary restraining order in a lawsuit filed by a Texas family. The court ruled state officials are still prohibited from investigating that family, but nobody else. KVUE-TV reports the court also removed the governor from the lawsuit, ruling that he does not have the authority to issue a directive to DFPS.
