Last week I got to do my first "radio hang" with Randall King. He performed to a full house at the Lowbrow Palace May 30th. While the opening act "The Powell Brothers" were performing, we went upstairs to a private conference room and waited for Randall to walk in. I was weirdly calm, maybe because his TM had been so cool in helping arrange all this. When he walked in everyone was so excited and honestly my nerves set in for a few seconds but then went away, mainly because he was super easy to talk to. He was taller than I expected and honestly, even better looking in person haha!
Instead of the traditional questions, we talked about Chico's Tacos and Whataburger, our birthdays (his is Jan 1st mine is Jan 2nd), our ties to the trucking industry, and I tested his "El Paso Spanish" with phrases like "ayy ayy" and "mira mira." I asked him about Selena and he even gave me tips on keeping healthy vocal cords, (I did not know milk was not great for vocals).
One of my guests, Anna, is a huge fan of Randall's and made him a small cake, (that his TM confirmed he did eat btw). It had his logo in gold in the middle.
He also let us know about his new radio single, "I Could Be That Rain." All in all, it was a great experience and hope to see him back in El Paso!
