Justice 4 Juniors was this past Sunday and we need more events like this!

Yesterday I attended the 2nd annual "Justice 4 Juniors" event with Guardians of the Children. It was hosted by the Victims Assistance Program, a part of the District Attorney's Office. The mission of this event aligns perfectly with our mission, which is to advocate against child abuse and to educate the public to do the same.

The event had many organizations such as Homeland Security, FBI, Constables, and more participating to offer people resources that also support this mission. There were also booths with kid's activities such as a reptile petting zoo, arts and crafts, super heroes walking around, jumping balloons and free backpacks that were given away full of school supplies.

There were raffles which I assisted in announcing, music, and the best part, a watergun fight with kids and law enforcement! The Horizon Fire Dept even set up a huge water hose to cool everyone down, (it was HOT). Guardians of the Children were there letting kids take picture on their motorcycles and so much more!

I think we need more events like this geared specifically towards children's empowerment. Child abuse is more common that most people think, and children need to know that they have the right to advocate for their feelings and their bodies, even to an adult or authority figure, and events like this do just that. What do you do think about events like this? What would you like to see at these events? I'd like to see more of them and personally I would add in a self defense demonstration on stage geared towards kids.
