Rob "Rabbit" Pitts passed away from stomach cancer at the age of 45. He was one of the stars of the series "Tex Mex Motors" which was filmed here in El Paso and just across the border in Mexico. The show follows Rob and Marcos "Scooter" Carrera, who is native to Juarez/ El Paso. Scooter hunted for classic cars from across the border to have them brought back, fixed, and sold. Rob, known on the show as Rabbit, was the sales guy. The two were so opposite that their dynamic worked extremely well for the show.
Rob's videographer Jeff created a video titled "This Is Goodbye" in which the text explains how Rob started feeling sick while filming season two of Tex Mex Motors. He was losing his appetite and went into the ER at one point for pain, only to find out he had stomach cancer. Rob had recently gotten married, and in the video he expresses gratitude for his wife with the quote "Luckily she doesn't mind doing long-term things with a short-term guy." Before he passed, not only was he able to marry the love of his life, he was able to accomplish his goals of buying his own store and finished filming season two of Tex Mex Motors.
RIP Rob "Rabbit" Pitts. Thank you for what you did to help bring positive attention to El Paso in the way you knew best, with cars and friends.
