Behind the Scenes of El Paso's International Museum of Art

El Paso's International Museum of Art is located at 1211 Montana Avenue. The museum is not only an art gallery but also home to historic pieces and can even be used as a beautiful event venue!

iHeart's Amber Banda recently interviewed Cynthia Horton, Board Member for the International Museum of Art in El Paso, (not to be confused with the El Paso Museum of Art located downtown, although they do support each other in various ways). They talked about the current Sunbowl Art Exhibition, (you can see the winners on their social media and even purchase the art), current exhibits and Cynthia gave some BTS details, like how long it takes to set up an exhibit and how to narrow down what to display when you have 10,000 pieces come in for 1 exhibit! You can hear the full interview on the free iHeart app starting Nov 23rd at 8am!

Below is a "What is..." table. Can you guess what these artifacts are?

1. Yogurt Mixer - Afghanistan

2. Tea Whisk - Japan

3. Falcon Stand - Saudi Arabia

4. Toad Caller (Yes, it's used to call toads) - Indonesia

5. Bedouin Coffee Grinder (It has a pestle and doubles as a drum) - Jordan

6. Date Tree Climber - Bahrain

7-Chajchas, a rattle that goes around the wrist. It is made of goat toenails from Central Andes

Thank you again to Cynthia for the pictures and interview!
