TMSG: Waste Collectors Refurbish Old Bikes For Kids In Need

Two men who work with the Hillsborough County Solid Waste Management program in Tampa, Florida decided to turn one man's trash into another man's treasure.

Ron Milligan and Kenneth Walker Jr started coming across good bikes being thrown out. Rather than take them to use for scrap metal, they were able to restore them with permission from management. They gathered and restored enough to drop off 26 bikes at Children's Services. Milligan shared with News Channel 8, "A lot of kids don't have the opportunity to have a bike, so it gives them that small change, it's a good feeling." With Walker Jr adding, "I think they were joyful maybe. Having a bike of their own to ride around and be free."

Since their first drop, they have about 50 more bikes they are working on for their next drop-off. For anyone wanting to donate gently used bikes to their cause, they can donate at one of the waste facility's here.
